Think about this for a moment. We’re all facing this challenge at some level right now. We want a bigger, more successful business, yet so much of what we try seems to fall flat instead of producing results.

Winning this battle is critical to your success

You are involved in a war, and whether or not you come out a  winner will largely depend on how well you can defend yourself  against a constant onslaught.

Now that’s a peppy little message guaranteed to kick of your day!

The battle that I’m referring to is one that you MUST win if you  have visions of succeeding in life. It’s a battle you’ve been in  since the day you were born, but it’s also a battle you can win,  if you’re willing to.

The key, of course, is that you’re willing to win, and that you  believe that winning is even possible.

If you’re with me on this, let me give you some more information  on this war and how to win it.

Success requires that you focus on the things that you really  want and tune out the things you don’t want. It sounds simple,  but in reality it’s one of the biggest battles you’ll face in  life.

You see, every where you look, your attention is being turned to  things NOT wanted. From the news you see all day, everyday, to  the conversations you’re having with friends, family, and co- workers.

All of it is about things you DON’T WANT, while very little time,  if any, is dedicated to being focused on the things you really  want most.

It’s not all your fault. As a society, we’ve been trained to look  at the bad stuff, to be focused on the disasters, the mis- fortunes, and the dark side of the political structure.

It’s so well ingrained in us all that we barely notice how  negative we’ve become!

This is the EXACT OPPOSITE of the way you need to be in order to  make it in life. It’s no mystery that people are literally  attracted to those of us who are POSITIVE. I like to think of the  little + sign when I think of something positive as ADDING to my  life experience.

But how can you re-train your mind to focus more on things that  make you smile even in the face of a constant and un-ending  onslaught of negativity?

I’ll admit, it’s not easy, but the good news is that even if you  modified your thinking by a mere 10%, you’d see big shifts in  your  life. Just 10%, or 6 minutes of every hour, will make a  measurable difference in your life!

Marketing Strategies for the Fall Shopping Season

Every year about this time, my focus and energy begins to shift  rapidly to the coming fall season. Why is this such an important  part of the year?

For one thing, it’s the time of year when sales increase for many  businesses. However, businesses who aren’t planning their fall  marketing strategies right now, will be too late to capitalize on  this increase in sales.

I know that you’re the type of business owner who is eager to  grow your business, so I’m sure that you’re now ready to look at  what you can do for your marketing this fall.

Let me give you a couple of quick ideas. First, Labor Day is this  coming weekend, so you can put together a special and get that  out to your list, to your Facebook friends, and your Twitter  followers.

Beyond that, you’ll have more time to plan for marketing you can  do in October, November, and of course, December too!

The Shortcut to Success

Today is Thanksgiving in America and it’s a day when our attention tends to  shift to our families. But it’s also a great time to steal away a few moments to  count your many blessings.

For many years, I avoided doing that second part in any way, shape, or form. My  focus was instead always on the things that I wanted but didn’t yet have. I  tended to never look back at what I had already accomplished.

As I grew a little older, I started to pay more attention to this idea of being  thankful for the many things that have indeed come my way over the years. There  was an immediate shift that happened in my life when I changed my focus from  what was missing, to what was already accomplished.

I found myself happier, more confident, and living with increased expectations  about what was coming next. What a contrast that was!

Now, instead of feeling like a failure for all the things I did not yet have or  had not yet accomplished, I felt proud and happy about where I was right now.

Today, I teach a very powerful point in my seminars and to my coaching clients  that can be summed up like this:

“Gratitude is the Shortcut to Success.”

You could use today as the excuse to look around you at the family members who  love you, the house you live in, the clothes you wear, and the “toys” you own  and find ways to be thankful for it all.

It can be helpful to remember a time in your life when you didn’t have any of  the things you have now, and remember how much more challenging life was back  then.

Look at all you’ve done, all you’ve accomplished, and realize that with each  passing year, you grow more and more.

Very few in our society today are not on this path. Some move along the path  faster than others, but we’re always moving forward in at least some areas of  our lives. 

Take this day to remember just how lucky your are to have what you have, and  make a decision to make this into a habit you carry with you every day of the  year.

You’ll soon notice that the things you want will come to you with less effort  and more frequency than ever before.

If it’s indeed true that success is a mindset, a great place to start is by  being grateful.
